SIPs Insulated Roof Panels
Like SIPs wall panels, SIPs roof panels have a nearly continuous foam core glued between two layers of Oriented Strand Board (OSB). This results in an extremely strong roof system. Since the insulation is incorporated into each SIPs panel they are very energy efficient. As a result, there is no need for other insulation in the attic. This also allows for insulated vaulted ceilings. Shingles, metal panels, or other roofing material is then applied directly to the SIPs panels according to the manufacturers specifications.
Standard thicknesses of SIPs roof panels range from 4-1/2″ – 10-1/4″ thick. As a result, R-values of your roof will range from R-18 up to R-42.
SIPS roof construction typically provides a stronger more energy efficient roof system than that of conventional roof construction. Each panel can be 4 foot to 24 foot in length and up to 48 inches wide. They are typically 8 1/4” thick but can be thicker or thinner according to your project and individual needs.
